St John’s Curriculum

Saint John’s meet the requirements of the Chilean educational system and also incorporates three International Baccalaureate programmes: PYP, MYP and Diploma.

St. John’s meets the requirements of the Chilean educational system and also incorporates in parallel, an internationally orientated education, which is the International Baccalaureate (IB): Primary Years Programme (PYP), of interdisciplinary nature in Infant and Junior levels; Middle Years Programme (MYP) of interdisciplinary nature, from year 7 to year 11; and Diploma Programme (DP) of interdisciplinary nature in the last two years of Senior School.

Therefore, the school’s curriculum is unique, a mixture of the established national programme published by the Ministry of Education and the IB International programme. Both guidelines influence to allow the teaching learning process to incorporate knowledge and skills, as well as attitudes in the students, which lead them to a comprehensive formation with an international mentality that places them without problems in today’s world. It should be mentioned that the school has external evaluation strategies and certifications that allow monitoring the quality of the academic process.

One of the objectives of our school is to incorporate, in all levels, the teaching of the English language, in order to achieve a perfect mastery of it. Therefore, up to year 6, the main teaching language is English and from year 7 to year 13, several hours are designed to achieve bilingualism.

Comprehensive training is what determines the school quality of our curriculum, where we seek constructivism as a teaching-learning model. This encourages an active and meaningful learning for students, who are the centre if this process. Likewise, teachers are an innovative guide, as well as demanding and committed to the achievements of their students. All this, hand in hand with the family, which is one of the main pillars of this model, since it allows creating an environment of trust that positively promotes the educational process.
